WHITE OAK

For a clean and classic look, there are few choices better than White Oak. Long favored for it's stable, closed grain and excellent resistance to moisture, it was historically a favorite of barn and boat builders. It continues to be well liked as the species of choice for Craftsman and Mission style furniture that emerged as a popular and distinctively American type of furniture in the early part of the 20th century.

AMERICAN WHITE ASH

It remains to be seen what will happen to the future of American Ash as it faces a battle with an invasive beetle that has destroyed millions of trees since being identified in 2002. Historically we could also call it Robin Hood's wood as it's hard, but malleable properties make it the perfect wood for crafting bows and arrow shafts. As a floor, it's somewhat similar to White Oak, though tends to be lighter with a different grain pattern and finished look.

HICKORY

One of the ideal floors for the cabin or country get away.  Hickory is an incredibly hard wood that can absorb years of frequent and hard wear, and not show any less for it. It's hard durability makes it one of the main choices for professional wood baseball bats. It's varying color tones and grain patterns make it a preferred choice for all types of rustic or refined rustic type projects.

BLACK WALNUT

A Black Walnut floor may be the most distinguished floor available. Long favored for it's beauty, workability and stability, Black Walnut is used for all sorts of accents and furniture, and is especially impressive as a wide plank floor. Naturally dark, with sapwood highlights, there really is no competitor for the dark rich feel that Black Walnut gives to a space.

COLONIAL WHITE PINE

In the early years of the nation's founding, there was hardly a home in all of New England that didn't feature some type of Eastern White Pine. The tall, straight, massive conifer trees provided beams for timber framed barns and homes. Boards for siding and trim. And perhaps most visible of all. wide and long planks that became the country's original wide plank flooring. Today, even more than 200 years after they were installed, many of these floors still remain.  Softer than their hardwood counterparts, White Pine floors nonetheless have acquired a charming patina from generations of living eating, entertaining, and the like. Is also among the easiest of floors to refinish if a change in stain color or sheen is desired.
